March 12 (San Diego) —

Pizza Dough in 30 Mins

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/8 teaspoon of yeast
  • 1 pinch of sugar
  • 3/4 cup of hot water (110 to 115 degrees)

Mix flour and salt together in a medium bowl.   Put 3/4 cup hot water in small bowl and sprinkle yeast across the top.  Sprinkle sugar across the top too.   Let sit for 5-10 mins.  Mix water/yeast into dry ingredients with a wooden spoon until it’s stringy.   Push together in the bowl and then tip dough out onto a lightly floured counter or silpat.   Pat together and knead dough for 5-10 minutes until dough ball is smooth and springy.  Coat large bowl with a little olive oil and roll dough ball around in the oil until coated.   Leave ball in the bowl and cover with plastic wrap.  Put bowl in slightly warm oven (you can set it to 200 degrees for 5 mins and then turn off) for 30-45 mins or until dough rises and doubles in size.    Once it has risen, flip dough onto cookie sheet and press into pizza shape with your hands or use a rolling pin.  Top with San Marzano crushed or chopped tomatoes (Cento is my favorite brand) and whatever toppings you prefer.   Enjoy!
