PowMow!

March 19 (Eden, UT) —

After a few days of chilling in Park City with Bus, we headed north to Powder Mountain in the Ogden Valley where we camped for two days without cell reception or internet.  Luckily, we had three episodes of Justified downloaded to keep us entertained at night.

The promised snow failed to materialize, but we got bluebird conditions instead so it was hard to complain (I still did, of course).

We spent most of our time skinning up the ridge to James Peak.  Thankfully, the extra 15 lbs of “SG Stress” that I am carrying slowed us down enough that the face of the peak had softened by the time we skied down.  Conditions were still variable — everything from bulletproof ice, to corn, to dust on crust, to chalk.

Nonetheless, we enjoyed earning our turns and headed straight to Carlos & Harley’s for some fajitas and guac as a reward.

Heading north to Montana next, where the storm that missed Utah actually dropped some white fluffy stuff.
